Fruix Fields began in 2023 with a vision to cultivate sunflowers and create a maze, offering visitors a chance to enjoy the great outdoors. The first year was full of learning experiences. I spread manure, ploughed, bought seeds, worked the ground, planted the seeds, and rolled, expecting a vibrant sunflower field. However, the crop was mostly overtaken by weeds. In an effort to save the sunflowers, I applied a spray that unfortunately killed a large part of the crop—but it did get the weeds too! By August, a resilient patch of sunflowers remained. I decided to sell these survivors in bunches, which turned out to be a surprising success and inspired this year’s project.

1952 - Fruix Farm was bought by my Great Grandfather. This map shows the area which was purchased
1972 - The very first motorway in Scotland was built and split up parts of Fruix in order to make way for the road. The Farm lost 17 acres to this construction

1996 - This shows and old set of sheds which we being readied for renovation
1997 - This is the progress that was made through 96. Started sheep farming. Fruix farm sign was put up
1998 - construction was completed on renovating part of old sheds into a house
2004 - Fruix Storage started as prices of grain prices were lower and at a similar level to prices seen during the 1980’s
2023 - Fruix Fields was founded as a means of starting my entrepreneurial journey
